WHY: THE WEDDING MONTH OF JUNE

As we close the first half of the year, let me share to you 40 of the suggested songs you can use for your wedding dance, wedding reception, prenup videos, onsite videos, and even for your wedding proposal gimmicks! I limited the genre though, not including some famous ballad love songs, sweet RnB music or OPM favorites you would often hear during wedding ceremonies - yup, consider this as a disclaimer.

Why is June the traditional month for I do's anyway?

The easiest explanation would have to be that June is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth (so that explains the title behind the movie Juno). Legends also say that the foregoing month May is considered the month of the "unhappy dead" for the Romans making them move their wedding dates to June. Furthermore, in the 14th and 15th centuries, people would also take their annual bath in the month of May. Yes, they would take a bath once a year! Since this is the freshest they can be, the coming month of June became the perfect time to tie the knot as they still look relatively pleasing. Surprising how being presentable still matter to them considering their annual bathing tradition, lol! June brides are also likely to give birth in spring, which is believed to bring good luck.

Tapping closer to present times, June has become popular for wedding ceremonies because of its good weather. Spring to summer weddings are perfect because of the beautiful flowers in full bloom, and picturesque nature. Guests and outdoor events won't be much of a hassle as well because of the dry season. We Filipinos on the other hand experience the opposite as June starts the rainy season and classes too. This is why July, September and December also shares the same statistics for the month with the most number of weddings.

Some famous June wedding couples are Victoria & David Bekham, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne, Paul McCartney & Heather Mills, Courteney Cox & David Arquette, and Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban. Movies that incorporated the wedding month June is the 1948 film "June Bride" starring Bette Davis and Montgomery Clift, where a couple's wedding is set to be featured in a women's magazine's June issue. Another one is Bride Wars starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. The movie's about the rivalry of two best friends after scheduling their wedding days on the same date - June 6.

I love wedding preparations, watching weddings, and watching wedding videos. They make me cry, but all in all, they're hopeful to watch. I remembered spending a night browsing Jason Magbanua's wedding videos to eventually checking other videographer's wedding vids too. I cry most of the time, and I am sure the music they use play a big part to the viewer's emotions. Songs on wedding videos just have this vibe that make us smile and uncontrollably let us whisper with "Aaaaw!" while imagining ourselves being in it.

Let music express how much you love your forever. Congratulations June brides and to the other soon to be newlyweds as well!
