SEOUL TRAIN KOREAN BBQ / WHEN CONCERT PRODUCERS HIT THE GRILL!

SEOUL TRAIN KPOP IDOLS

SEOUL TRAIN KOREAN BBQ / WHEN CONCERT PRODUCERS HIT THE GRILL!

If this is going to Busan, I would probably think twice (there goes my poor movie reference haha). But Seoul Train isn't infested with flesh eating zombies, instead it's you who gets to savage Korea's fresh and high quality meat!

This place never fails to catch my attention whenever going to work en route Timog to Sgt. Esguerra. How can I (or probably anyone who would pass by) not notice it? Seoul Train's facade resembles to Korea's train stations, making it stand out despite the obscured location.

The locomotive themed Korean grill resto is a perfect go to spot for anyone who loves the Korean culture and fans of KPop music. That's why together with me are my two officemates Pontif, a 2NE1 and Big Bang fan, and Ems, a Korean drama avid viewer.

The owners of Seoul Train may even be familiar to the KPop community here in the Philippines as they just happen to be the first to have brought in a KPop group to perform in the country.

Owners Happee Sy- Go and Vernon Go is actually the power couple also behind PULP Live World Production. Together they have managed to run a monthly music magazine and concert productions, all under PULP. Another evidence to their love and passion for music is their rock and roll themed wedding last 2011.

And now their commitment to music and concert production levelled up as they ventured to food business, influenced by their travel experiences as well. The best friend turned couple would often travel and look for a place where they can grill and savor the perfect cut of meat. With that, the two would often end up in yakiniku spots or Korean charcoal grill.

Being the host of the many KPop group they've brought here in the country, Happee and Vernon Go would consistently make sure they get to feed their guests right. Unfortunately some of our Korean idols can be a bit picky especially with their meat (they're Koreans, and that's very much acceptable!) challenging them to discover the best there is. Coming from them: what you eat in Seoul Train, the stars have eaten as well. Bam!

Among those we ordered is the Mandu Guk, their dumpling soup and KPop idols' favorite. You can choose between pork (what we had), chicken and vegetarian. As for their meat, ugh, they really won the challenge of providing your Korean grill cravings' satisfaction!

The Woo Samgyup's paper thin cut of meat is best enjoyed with sesame oil and pepper sauce. Its impressive red meat screams freshness upon being served. The Samgyeopsal on the other hand blends well with lots of garlic and Makgeoli. This is a consistent fave whenever I eat Korean, but Seoul Train steps forward with its tender pork too juicy to share.

You can choose from a wide variety of meat for your top grill barbecue experience, all are served with vegetable wraps, free soup, 6 side dishes and side salad. We weren't able to try their "magic sauce" which they say will change our Korean dining experience, but will definitely do so when I come back!

They also have a VIP room with a P5,000 minimum consumable charge. Same with the dining tables outside, the VIP room also have anti- smoke devices so worry not on smelling like Korean grilled meat upon leaving. They also use smokeless charcoal for added flavor.

Aside from the authentic Korean food of Seoul Train, people have been curious with the place's cute to clever Korean train interior. Even before entering the place, as mentioned, the facade will already excite you as it's as if you're entering a legit Korean train station - in Sgt. Esguerra, haha! The nitty gritty Korean train station details incorporated in a hip manner is impressive, complete with audio effects of train engines.

The concept is inspired by Happee and Vernon's love for travelling and of riding trains, with Happee being scared of airplanes. There are graffiti walls at the entrance door and upon going to the rest room which is plus points for people who love taking photos behind screaming backdrops.

You don't have to bore yourself while waiting for your order (which doesn't take too long to arrive anyway) as there's a lot to try and check out amidst the little space. The usual upbeat KPop music being played is actually enough to entertain you, but if you want to maximize your stay at Seoul Train there's the Claw Crane and Grab A Toy slot machines to consume your coins to.

I've never been to Korea but thanks to Seoul Train's authentic Korean food and locomotive theme for somehow letting me experience the place and their transportation, complemented with the KPop music I'm slowly familiarizing with.

Happee and Vernon Go is probably on my current number one spot for #relationshipgoals as they were able to live up making music as their lifestyle. From print to live production, to traveling, and now as restaurateur. I mean how often would you see a single place that reflects one's passion for music, travel, and food seamlessly right?

PS: MAKE SURE to call for reservations first as the place, like any other train in Manila, can be a bit crowded.
