WHEN: CAPITAL CITIES LIVE IN MANILA AND THEIR SAFE AND SOUND VIDEOS

CAPITAL CITIES LIVE IN MANILA - AYALA MALLS AND THEIR SAFE AND SOUND VIDEOS

"I could lift you up!", hear Capital Cities sing this famous line live for Capital Cities Live At Ayala Malls on January 11 at Alabang Town Center 4PM and Glorietta Activity Center 7PM; and on January 12 at Marquee Mall Activity Center 3PM and Trinoma Atrium 7PM!

Unexpected and random is how these two got together and formed their name. Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian met when Sebu posted an ad at Craigslist offering his services as producer and the only one who responded to it was Ryan who happens to be searching for a producer for his solo project! Since then, the two have collaborated on different projects including writing for commercial jingles.

The name Capital Cities on the other hand came from, well, a suggestion from a chat conversation. The two are chatting over Gmail brainstorming for a good name when Ryan thought of Capital of May, into which Sebu replied suggesting Capital Cities. Instantly, the name sounded perfect for them. Yes, literally the capital of different cities all over the world is what Capital Cities stands for... they just thought it was cool and classy.

THE SAFE AND SOUND VIDEOS

Undeniably, Safe and Sound is the group's greatest hit to date. With the happy song's positive message, it did influenced good vibes for many listeners.

But do you know that their song Safe and Sound actually has 3 versions of music videos?

Excluding the lyric video featuring the two dancing dummies named "Safe" and "Sound", here are Capital Cities' Safe and Sound music videos:

Set in Downtown Los Angeles Theatre, this beautiful video showed impressive video editing skills with the overlaying dance videos of different eras from early 1920s to present! It is not surprising that this is nominated for the 2014 Grammy Awards in the best Music Video category.

Belgian attack dogs, cult, Llamas and disturbing dancers... this isn't really your definition of safe. But this is probably my favorite among the three. Directed by the Swedish director Jimmy Ahlander (also responsible for Royksopp's "Tricky Two"), the video took place at Zorthian Ranch, a bizarre and artsy junkyard at the foothills of the Angeles Crest National Forest.

Uploaded when the song first came out on 2011, this video's theme is quite the same as the official music video. With this one though, the video chronologically showcased videos of dance and war over the past 100 years.  Juxtaposed popular dance scenes over war footages, this video has truly conveyed a strong message of "safe and sound".

I absolutely think Capital Cities would still go a long long way. With great song writing skills, music production and out of the box ideas, this is one group to definitely look forward to!
