HOW: VOTE NOW FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL YOUTUBE MUSIC AWARDS 2013

Who among here are guilty to be spending hours and hours browsing through random YouTube videos? Or doing your own discography by checking out an artist's strings of related videos? Those who quickly check to YouTube of any parody or funny video regarding a trending issue? Or you probably made YouTube as your personal portable karaoke? Check, check, check... and check! I love Youtube as much as I love wasting our office's bandwidth! =P

And so they have proven to be the number one video sharing platform since they started on 2005. Now it's time for us to have our say on who should reign as Youtube superstars on their respective categories for the very first YouTube Music Awards on November 3 in New York City.

Is my favorite Youtube artist or music video part of the nominees? How will I vote? Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful? Details below!:)

From the data gathered from September of last year to August this year, YouTube determined the nominees per category based on the video's engagement: shares, likes, comments, subscriptions, you know the works. And finally, here are the categories and nominees to vote for!

VIDEO OF THE YEAR - The music video who garnered the most number of fan engagement.

ARTIST OF THE YEAR - The performer / artist who received most of your loving likes, shares, subscriptions and views on YouTube.

RESPONSE OF THE YEAR - The best parody, cover or response fan video on YouTube based on views, shares and subscriptions.

YOUTUBE PHENOMENON - The trendsetter! The best video influencer with of course the most number of fan videos made.

YOUTUBE BREAKTHROUGH - As any other award giving body puts it, the newcomer artist with the biggest increase in views and subscribers.

INNOVATION OF THE YEAR - The innovative video with the most number of fan engagement pre-selected by international musicians and creative minds.

Now how to vote: 

- Simply choose among the Official Nominee Playlists page for the category.

- Among the chosen playlist, click on the video you would like to vote.

- Share it (through YouTube's sharing navigation too ayt!) via Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, etc. (one share means one vote).

Simple right? Now go cast your vote! Live performances of Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Eminem, YouTube musical acts Lindsey Stirling and CDZA are to be expected. Youtube has also lined up five other artists: M.I.A., Earl Sweatshirt, Avicii, Tyler the Creator and Walk Off the Earth.


Hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts, the YouTube Music Awards 2013 will be held at Pier 36 in New York City on November 3. Concluding the live awards are five music events to be streamed from around the world on YouTube. Shows from Seoul, Moscow, London, Rio and Tokyo will be at 5AM also on November 3rd.
