CSB MUSIC BUSINESS WEEK 2014 HIGHLIGHTS

The Music Business classes of the Music Production program of the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde recently wrapped MUSIC BUSINESS WEEK 2014. Only the second staging of what is planned as an annual activity to provide opportunities for the students as well as aspiring artists and professionals to interact with leaders and notable personalities in the music industry. The event is highlighted by a series of talks on different topics of interest in the Music Business. Previous speakers included artist manager Day Cabuhat (Eraserheads, Pupil, Domino), veteran music producer Jim Sarthou and Radio Republic and Imago’s Zach Lucero.

Last March 20-21, the culminating talks for Music Business Week featured a stellar line-up of resource persons covering a wide array of topics:

I really can’t remember when I started liking Regine Velasquez.

Hmm, perhaps it was when she had her 2-night sold out R2K concert way back April of 2000, held at the Araneta Coliseum. She sang "On The Wings of Love" and "Butterfly" while being suspended in mid air as if telling everyone “Fuck you all, I can belt those high notes while wearing this harness for 2 consecutive nights!” *joke*

The good and bad thing when a musician dies is the memory or feeling it leaves upon hearing their works. Photos may flash back events, but music triggers emotions.

It's been a week since the GV Florida Transport Inc. bus fell off a ravine landing at Bontoc, Mt. Province. Fifteen died including Arvin "Tado" Jimenez and other artists on their respective field. We all know Tado, his advocacies, and the sense of humor we will forever treasure. But one of them got my curiosity, maybe because he loves music, or maybe because I've been seeing a lot of good comments about him. 

He's David Sicam, I never got to know him until the accident, and maybe you'd like to know more about him too...
